Managing E-loyalty through Design

Speaker:
Dianne Cyr, Associate Professor in MIS at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver

Date: Monday, June 6, 2005 4:15-5:15p

Location: 301 College Avenue, Seminar Room

Abstract -

Our research is focused on how to build trust, satisfaction, and e-loyalty in online business environments across national cultures. Website design characteristics are central to our investigations. Over the past 3 years we have conducted research onsite in Canada, the U.S., Germany, and Japan. Background to the research and key findings from two papers will be presented. More specifically, results demonstrate between cultural differences in website design preferences for a local and foreign website of the same online vendor. In addition, a model is presented which shows a strong relationship of website design to satisfaction, trust, and ultimately e-loyalty. A number of future research directions are underway, and these will be briefly elaborated. The research website is: www.eloyalty.ca.
